Estuary Sailing is
delighted to announce that we can now provide
the RYA Intermediate and RYA Advanced Powerboat
courses.
To prepare for this higher specification
training we have sold our superb Humber Rib and
in its place now have two replacements.
They are a 5.6 metre Avon D560 and Ribtec 5.85
metre vessels both powered by 90hp engines and
both have higher cruising speeds (approx 25
knots)
and higher maximum speeds (approx 40 knots) than
the smaller Humber they replace. Both will be
well equipped for these enhanced courses and
they will provide more stable seaworthy
platforms for the longer distances involved
for these higher level Rya Powerboat courses.
Great news also in that we have purchased a 9.6
metre motorboat which we are in the process of
modifying/improving/preparing for MCA
coding. This will enable us to apply for
recognition as a RYA Motor Cruising scheme
training centre. The new vessel is an extremely
strong ex military patrol vessel. Her name is
Migdal and
she was Italian built by ‘Cigala Bertinetti with
twin propellers driven via shafts from her twin
diesel engines.
With her flybridge and new equipment and layout
she will be a great training vessel. We look
forward to providing RYA Motor Boat courses
along with skippered charter when she is brought
back up to spec.
The principal Carol was delighted to pass her
Yachtmaster Instructor for Sail and Advanced
Powerboat Instructor assessments during the late
autumn this year.
Simon our other highly qualified instructor
remains on board and looks forward to providing
the full range of RYA Motor cruising
scheme
courses when Migdal is
both MCA coded and RYA
approved probably around March 2011 ready for
the 2011 season.
Plans are also being made to do another one or
two 'Adventure Sails' after the successful 6
week trip to Portugal via the Biscay coastline
this year.
Possibilities include return to Falmouth,
possibly visiting the Isles of Scilly then non
stop to St Kilda (for an Oceanmaster qualifying
passage); another trip being considered is a
four country trip along the coastline of France
and Germany and Holland etc with return via NE
English coastline.
Pretty exciting all round-lots of work.
Lets hope for fair winds in 2011!!
