Mileage & Skill Building |
|
|
People new to yachting
often are, quite rightly, a little nervous about
setting out on a passage and leaving sight of
the shore. They may have already invested in a
boat of their own or wish to gain experience
prior to investing a lot of time and money in a
vessel of their own. Will the theory skills they
may already know or have yet to learn be
adequate for a safe journey?
Sailing with an RYA
Yachtmaster Instructor will surely help give
that peace of mind.
Build confidence and skills, practicing the art
with qualified professional support all the way.
After a couple of voyages many people gain the
confidence to venture further afield or take the
plunge and buy a boat of their own. Either way
it surely makes sense to ‘have a go’ with
skilled support before committing oneself to
yacht ownership or other expense.
Similarly those on
the RYA training pathway have to reach certain
qualifying mileages before progressing to the
next level of RYA competence.
For example:-
| |
Day skipper
= 5 days, 100 miles and 4 night hours. |
| |
Coastal skipper
= 15 days (2 as skipper), 300 miles and 8
night hours. |
| |
Yachtmaster
= 50 days (5 as skipper), 2,500 miles
with 5 passages over 60 miles. 2
overnight passages with 2 as skipper |
Estuary Sailing is well
placed to assist people to practice their
skills, building up mileage and develop ability
and confidence. Using theoretical skills to
achieve practical goals is not only fun but
highly satisfying.
Please call to discuss your needs, from 4
hour general or specialist practice sessions to
60 mile or longer passages we are here to help.
